Can't s just profess their love for each other and wed in private since they love each other?

Marriage was originally created to protect the children that would eventually occur as a result. ual couples, through artificial insemination, surrogacy, etc, are now able to have children and often do. It is for this reason that s need to be able to marry. These couples are just as in love as heteroual couples and want to share and demonstrate their love for one another. This is the basis and reason for the public marriage ceremony, a celebration of commitment between two people in love. It has nothing to do with money, but it has everything to do with family. Tax benefits and health benefits are primarily for the protection of the family, especially the children. Family is no longer just limited to man/woman relationships. Our definition of family has changed and our definition of marriage needs to change with it.
