What will i do to manage the pain after a hysterectomy and cauterization procedure??
The surgeon will send you home with pain medicine. Talk to your surgeon before surgery and decide whether you want/need that ovary out. He will do whatever it is that you sign for on the consent form unless there is something really bad wrong that he has to remove. Be clear with him about what you want and don't want. Ask if having only one ovary is enough to maintain adequate hormonal balance. The pre-op anxiety will be handled with your anesthesiologist. Talk to him and he will prescribe medication to calm you down beforehand. It is hard when you don't know what is around the corner. Your health care professionals want you to be informed and as much at ease as possible.
