Pain Medication Question?

I have some really bad problems. I am in constant severe pain. I inherited back problems from both of my parents(my dad died last year at 2 weeks before his 65th birthday) but had multiple back surgeries over the years for disk problems, my mother has to have shots put into her spine at least a couple of times a month. Well I am 32 and have had at least 10 major car accidents(none of them were my fault-just bad luck), after the first one at 16 I developed migraines on a normal basis. The problem is now between chronic neck and back pain which cause extreme headaches, I feel like I can not hardly sit up for work(I just started back after trying to work at home with no success for the last 6 months). I should also say that I have gastric byp so things go through my stomach almost as quickly as I put them in so most medications hardly touch the pain. I could take 10 Tylenol and it do nothing. For the last few months the doctor has been giving me Lortab (even those are not really working I have to take about 1 1/2 three times a day to sit through work) but is referring me to a pain management doctor I have to see this week. Someone told me I should ask for Roxicet instead, I do not know what that is. Does anyone know which medications are stronger than the next or have any ideas? I would appreciate any input from anyone who might have had these types of problems or experience to tell me what I might do.
