Optimal nutrition for getting in shape?

I am 6' 0" and in January I weighed 250. I decided to slim down by cutting out the midnight snack, choosing healthier items (fruits and veggies over starch and meat) and getting in shape (took up ice skating). Now I'm down to 210 and I've decided to go all the way to a "fit" body, meaning my new goal is somewhere around 180... However, I don't want to end up scrawny. I've recently started running and I soon plan to start lifting weights again in September. Now that I'm running though, it's becoming tricky because I want to burn off the fat but I want to retain as much muscle m as possible. I worry about "burning" muscle instead of fat and ending up skinny and soft, instead of the oft desired "cut" male look. So, I want to make sure I'm eating enough to keep up with my active lifestyle without hurting my body, but I don't want to eat enough to keep from losing weight. Basically, I want to eat the RIGHT stuff. How can I do that? Help? Details, I plan to do mostly moderate distance moderate pace running (3-6 miles) on day A and a brief jog and lifting on day B, alternating A and B (and resting Sunday). Lifting won't be brutal, just moderate weights and a well rounded regimen, nothing intense.

What is wrong with my 3000gt?

I have had my 3000gt for a little over a year now. It has 90k miles on it.. when I bought it, it had 60k. After having it for a month the transmission blew out. I put a brand new transmission in it. Then a few months later the alternator went out, or so I thought... I took it to the shop and they said it was fine and they had to connect some wires... After that I was ran off the road by an SUV and hit a curb and bent one of my rims.. Anyways.. now my car shakes violently.. I've had it aligned, there are BRAND NEW tires on it, that have been rotated... The oil has been changed... but it still shakes.. mostly when I accelerate or go up hills. It stops when I take my foot off the gas, and drives normally unless I give it too much gas. When I take the overdrive off it drives a little better (doesn't shake AS much) . I'm having my alternator replace at this moment because it finally went out. What could it be?

Honestly, you'll never know if it comes to word of mouth or doentation. It sounds like you totally lack both. The only thing I could suggest is perhaps DNA. You can do DNA testing for genealogical purposes via sites like Ancestry.com. While the database isn't very extensive at the moment it's constantly growing and new avenues for the use of DNA are constantly being explored and implemented. I can't say you'll have success with this but your genetic profile will remain in the database for future use.

American Bulldog Breathing Issue?

Our 8 month old ABD puppy started having trouble with his breathing. It doesn't happen all the time -- sometimes just when he gets excited. Border Collie acting weird, is it his heart?

My 10 month male border collie loves to play outside, however after about 10 min of play he has episodes where he becomes disorientated. His front legs begin to give out causing him to face plant into the ground. He weaves, leans to one side, and becomes gly eyed. I rush him inside and after laying on the cool floor panting for 30 minutes he's fine. The vet did blood work and an urinalysis and both were normal. His best "guess" was hypoglycemia. I've increased his carbs and feed him 20 - 30 minutes before going out. No improvement. Could he be having a cardiac episode? Do they do echocardiograms on dogs? Should I seek a second opinion? It's scary to see and I just want to make sure he's ok. Thanks for any input!

Tips for palliative care of aging cat?

I had a cat not long ago who lived to be 19 years old and she developed kidney and thyroid problems at 14 years. We started with meds, but she didn't react to them well, so we discontinued them. She would eat the most unusual things in her senior days, and I didn't worry about it being typically healthy or not. She was offered everything and denied nothing if she ate it. She even opened a fruit cake one year and ate half of it. I figure she knew more about here dietary needs than I did. Your geriatric cat will get some nutrition from whatever you feed her and from whatever she wants, so don't hold back. She won't absorb the nutrition the same as in her younger days and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it...even feeding her the most nutritious food will not make much difference. You might find that her water intake will increase dramatically, so make sure she has lots of fresh water available. Eventually, she will dehydrate because the water will seive through without her body absorbing much, and it was at that point that we decided there was no quality in life for our cat and had her put to sleep. The vet determined that she was probably thirsty constantly and weak and would not be comfortable. She lost most of her fur and she was a Maine Coone with lots of fur and the full ruff all her younger days. She lost a lot of weight, going from 14 lb. down to just over 7 lb. in six months, and there isn't much you can do about that. It is difficult to determine when the right time is to let go, but after the experience, I realize I wanted her to live forever and probably allowed her to live longer than she should have. I am now living with that regret, so I advise you yze and reyze daily to make sure you do the best thing. So, in conclusion I guess there is no way to determine what "the best" diet is for this condition, so don't focus too much on it....let her have her way in her final years and be content that you have done the right thing.

I gave birth 9 months ago. Since then, I've noticed that my hip bones pop, snap and crack constantly! I could be walking up the stairs and they make snap noises. My 9 year old golden retriever has been sick on and off for two months, do you know what could be wrong?

I often let her swim in the lake(drainage water) and this time I saw her swallowed an inch diameter something. She was throwing up the next day so I took her to the vet and had an X-ray and blood work-all inconclusive. Put her on a chicken and rice diet and antibiotics for two weeks. As soon as I fed her the regular Iams diet she vomited again. For two more weeks I gave her chicken and tried to ease the Iams back but she doesn't want to eat that. Went back to the vet with a stool sample and that was fine. Now she is on prescription dog food and a little Iams mixed in but she'll only eat if I hand feed her. I don't know if she's drinking enough water. She seems lethargic and depressed. Doesn't even want to go for a walk. No vomiting,no diarrhea. Did the lake water give her a bacterial infection that needs more or different antibiotics(Ampicillin 500mg)? Am I wrong about the lake and it just happens that she got sick after that? Please help.

I have played this game but on the PS3. I believe it can be caused by one of three factors: 1) either little or no experience playing basketball video games, 2) the general physics/dynamics of the game (where it can "cheat" you out of or give you a shot), or 3) playing the game but not being able to remember key basic ons. I know because I have played basketball sports (it was NBA Live 2003 on my sister's XBox, which is now all but ruined) and I had missed a lot of good shots due to my forgetting of how to play this type of game and of me having a hard time with the PS3 controller. It is a higher gear for long distance driving such as on the freeway. Most cars are a 4 speed automatic with overdrive or in other words, a 5 speed. Overdrive lets the car shift into overdrive (5th gear) and get better mileage on the highway. I would leave it on all the time because it wont make a difference around town. It just allows the car to go into the higher gear when it needs to.

If you want something that will state cl and success go with the BMW 328i or Infiniti G37. The Lexus IS350 is nice but its over rated, although it gives you more bang for your buck. The 2010 A4 is captivating in the outside "cosmetically", but not so much appealing in the interior. The Infiniti G37 sedan and the BMW are the two top competitors and popular luxury vehicles in this segment. Its all based on preference though. No matter what, you will be cashing in on a $30,000-35,000 car if it is an 09 model, excluding the Maxima which should have not been mentioned within these cars, unless you don't care about the brand of a car. If your considering the Maxima I'm uming your worried or looking into a vehicle that will be both reliable but economical, if that is the case go with the Maxima. If not, then go with any of the luxury sedans listed below, but be aware they are not cheap to maintain if you have the mind set of paying what you would on a Maxima. Why can't I use AMD Overdrive?

I'm not a big fan of AMD overdrive. I had a 9600 Phenom 2.3ghz processor that I always overclocked on my 790X Gigabyte board to 2.42ghz in bios. Well I overclocked using AMDOD to 2.5ghz and it blue screened to never boot again. Something with that program is unreliable with some hardware. It blew the motherboard and the ram... Luckily Gigabyte and G.Skill was greatful enough to RMA the board and the ram with no questions asked. Ironically the system was 8 months old and I never expected them to really do anything...

Virtual dj recording my voice?

I have virtual dj pro and I can record music but it wont pick up my voice. I went to control panel to make sure the settings were set to my head set mic. The volume was turned up to 100 and I did a voice test to make sure my voice was being piced up and it was. As I talk into the mic I can hear my phone through the ear pieces. Pain Medication Question?

I have some really bad problems. I am in constant severe pain. I inherited back problems from both of my parents(my dad died last year at 2 weeks before his 65th birthday) but had multiple back surgeries over the years for disk problems, my mother has to have shots put into her spine at least a couple of times a month. Well I am 32 and have had at least 10 major car accidents(none of them were my fault-just bad luck), after the first one at 16 I developed migraines on a normal basis. The problem is now between chronic neck and back pain which cause extreme headaches, I feel like I can not hardly sit up for work(I just started back after trying to work at home with no success for the last 6 months). I should also say that I have gastric byp so things go through my stomach almost as quickly as I put them in so most medications hardly touch the pain. I could take 10 Tylenol and it do nothing. For the last few months the doctor has been giving me Lortab (even those are not really working I have to take about 1 1/2 three times a day to sit through work) but is referring me to a pain management doctor I have to see this week. Someone told me I should ask for Roxicet instead, I do not know what that is. Does anyone know which medications are stronger than the next or have any ideas? I would appreciate any input from anyone who might have had these types of problems or experience to tell me what I might do.

I had a consultation about an elective procedure fertility related and we agreed what would get done to me. On his website it said the ivf price includes all tests. I went to my next appointment for the testing (blood work and ultrasound). When I finished I was asked to pay $1200 and told the doctor wants me to do insemination not ivf which I had not agreed to. I felt put on the spot and maxed out my credit card. I'm thinking of going to a different doctor bec I had already told this one I had done two failed inseminations and we both agreed it would be a waste to so another one yet after taking the tests he changes his mind wants me to do another cycle to waste my money then do the ivf. Do you think I have a legitimate reason to request a refund for the tests so I can go somewhere else to apply it towards the ivf which is what I want and was told I'd be having???
